Coffee Report

Our first coffee today, served with homemade lemon cake. Charlie went back for seconds but they didn’t give him cake the second time.

Post by Wynette: We’ve had excellent coffee on this trip. Some better than others but many many that made us ooh and aah. I think the best we’ve ever had in Spain. Every bar has a particular brand of coffee. We especially like this kind, Montecelio.

  1. To paraphrase a famous quote wrongly attributed to Paul Erdös, “a pilgrim is a machine for converting coffee into footsteps.”

  2. For those of you who haven’t the faintest idea who Paul Erdös is, he was a Hungarian mathematician and the quip, actually made be another Hungarian mathematician, Alfréd Rényi, is “a mathematician is a device for converting coffee into theorems.”

    1. Henry, so glad you clarified that (about the quote.) We couldn’t figure out why Erdös would know that about pilgrims. But he might know that about mathematicians even if he’s not the actual one who said it. So, looks like pilgrims and mathematicians have a lot in common!
